Proud to be one of Madison’s oldest organic urban CSAs
Troy Farm is a vegetable production and education project of Rooted. The farm has been growing certified organic vegetables on Madison’s Northside since 2001, and we are proud to be one of the city’s oldest urban farm. Troy Farm sells produce to farm members and other Madison residents at our on-site farm stand on Thursday evenings and at the Northside Farmers’ Market on Sunday mornings, June – October. We also teach small-scale, organic growing practices and explore the role of urban farms in local food systems and community organizing through our Urban Farmer Training Program.
About Troy Farm
Join Troy Farm
The majority of the food we grow enters the community through our farm membership program. Summer Troy Farm Members join the farm in the spring and receive fresh organic produce throughout the primary growing season (June – October). Fall Troy Farm Members join the farm in late summer and receive 5 pre-packed boxes during the late fall growing season (late October – December). In addition to fresh, USDA Certified Organic produce grown in our urban farm, members have access to our u-pick flower garden, bulk purchasing, and the weekly Troy Farm newsletter.

Troy Farm’s organic produce is available for purchase at two locations on Madison’s Northside during the May-October growing season:
Troy Farm Stand
502 Troy Drive
Northside Farmers Market
2901 N. Sherman Avenue
We also grow and package herbs, including certified organic basil, thyme, mint, oregano, chives, sage, parsley, and dill during the growing season. Customers can find our packaged herbs for sale seasonally at Willy Street Co-op locations and Metcalfe’s Market at Hilldale Shopping Center.
Rooted Sprouts are available fresh year-round. We offer a full line of sprouts, including mung beans, lentil mixes, peas, broccoli, and mixes with alfalfa and clover. Customers can find our fresh sprouts year-round at several grocery stores in Madison, including all three Willy Street Co-op locations, Metcalfe’s Market at Hilldale Shopping Center, and Eastside Hy-Vee at 3801 East Washington Ave.
Individuals and families who sign up for membership commit to the farm for the growing season. This helps us cover the initial annual costs of the farm operation and helps us plan our production. In return, members will receive fresh organic produce throughout the harvest season (June–October for summer memberships; October–December fall memberships), have access to the u-pick flower garden (summer members only), and support our mission to increase access to land-based education and fresh food for all of our neighbors. If you live in the community, we want to be your farmers!
Summer Troy Farm Members choose a credit amount for their membership. Come June and throughout the harvest season, you spend that credit at the Troy Farm Stand or at our booth at the Northside Farmers’ Market. You select what you want, when you want it, and you support our efforts to improve access to fresh food and land-based education for all of our neighbors.

Our Fall Troy Farm Membership is more like a traditional CSA program. Members receive 5 pre-packed boxes available for pickup at Troy Farm every other Thursday from late-October until mid-December. Each box has about 8-10 types of veggies, including a mix of cooking greens, fresh greens, root veggies, and storage vegetables. Membership is open for fall 2022, so sign up today!
Joining Troy Farm supports food access for Madison residents. We are the only local farm to provide up to 75% off the price of farm membership to income limited families. Your standard price membership fee helps us provide discounted memberships through our Food Access Initiative. You can also donate directly to the Food Access Fund when you sign up for membership.
Thank you to our partners at the Fairshare CSA Coalition for helping us fund and promote this important program.
A worker share volunteer helps the farm in the field or at our markets, and gets a free membership in return. Troy Farm offers a number of different worker shares. You can learn more and apply here.
